Cecil County Maryland’s premiere
state-of-the-art studio. Located in downtown Elkton on Main
Street, recently designated as an “Arts & Entertainment
District” by the state. The studio space boasts over 4000
square feet of modern equipment and facilities, as well as
our adjoining gallery and boutique.

The Cecil County Arts Council acts as a
clearinghouse for information on the arts in Cecil County.
Now in its 30th year, the Arts Council is a non-profit
organization, dedicated to “presenting, promoting and
sustaining the arts in Cecil County,”
Gallery open 10am-4pm Monday-Friday, 6-8pm
every Tuesday evening and 10am-2pm the 1st and 4th Saturday
of every month.

Elk Landing is open the first Saturday of
each month from April through December for the public to
tour the restored Hollingsworth House and grounds. Come for
a guided tour and see how the Hollingsworth's lived at the
site between 1735 and 1860. You can also tour the grounds
and see where the British landed in 1777, where Washington
and Rochambeau embarked for Yorktown , Virginia in 1781, and
where the British were fought off in 1813. See where ships
came to port and where they were built. Even learn about the
Swedish trading post and what are believed to be the 300
year old remains of the original Swedish building. Most
months there is also a person from the past showcasing a
craft or a skill. You may see the militia drilling, a
blacksmith, a cooking demonstration, or even an
archeologist. Check our calendar here on out web site for

The library has the
largest collection of books, manuscripts, maps, government
documents and newspapers pertaining to Cecil County in
existence. The constantly expanding collection contains
over 2,000 books and 12,000 issues of newspapers (starting
in 1827). The library preserves newspaper clippings,
obituaries, souvenir booklets, pamphlets, and other
memorabilia related to county families, businesses,
organizations, churches, schools, towns, industries, and
important events in vertical files. Photographic
collections include an impressive array of postcards,
slides, prints, glass plates, negatives, lantern slides,
stereo cards and daguerreotypes. Wills, land records,
correspondence, receipt, business and organization records
and much more comprise the manuscript collection.
Watch for ever-changing gallery exhibits in the front lobby.

The museum features an
impressive collection of 19th century furnishings, historic
artifacts, and works of art of local interest. Four
permanent exhibits and regularly changing displays highlight
aspects of Cecil County history. The collection ranges from
colonial furnishings to Victorian-doll houses. Permanent
exhibits consist of the country store, Rev. William Duke’s
Log House, the Early American Kitchen and the Sheriff John
F. DeWitt Military Museum.
